Deadline: December 18, 2007. Place links in forums, blogs and other sites.. This isn't as simple as it sounds, because you need to be very diplomatic in how you do so. Remember that you are a guest in someone else's forum. Here's an example of an approach that doesn't work: 1. Go to a forum about Fishing Lures 2. Post "Check out the Secret World Chronicles!" and a link 3. Watch in horror as everyone lambasts you and curses our name. Advertising a website in an inappropriate context, as a new user who hasn't participated in the discussion, is begging to be labeled as a forum troll. This we don't want. Forums are communities, as you know, and so door-to-door salesmen are unwelcome. The best way to post an SWC link to a forum is to find those forums which discuss topics relevant to SWC: science fiction, fantasy, comic books, heroic fiction, superheroes, podcasts, writing, online gaming, anime. SWC can tie into all these things. 1. Science fiction - Well, it's essentially science fiction. 2. Fantasy - ... and it's some fantasy too! Plus Mercedes is famous within this genre. 3. Comic books - one of the sources of superheroes. 4. Superheroes - nuff said, though you will want to take note that this is a different medium for superheroic fiction than comic books. 5. Heroic fiction - more broad based, has pulp overtones. 6. Podcasts - podcasters are always interested in other podcasts. 7. Writers - writers are excited about the opportunities offered by podcasting their work. 8. Online Gaming - Since SWC was born when the creators met in an online game, folks will take notice. 9. Anime - a lot of crossover interest there. Find a forum that interests you and sign up. Participate a bit. Offer an introduction, post a few threads, post a few replies. Then, after a few days and a bit of posting history, give them an SWC link. Frame it in terms the forum will like. In fact, some forums provide topics specifically for posting links of interest. Look for these. Then hit the next forum! You can continue to participate in the previous forum in order to stake out your spot for another announcement, for example SWC Contests.
